A set of 6 'Monk' dining chairs attributed to Italian designers Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Molteni in the 1970s. These Mid-Century Modern chairs feature angular wood frames with cylindrical form beams that attach the top and bottom of the legs. The legs are accented with contrasting black hardware. Soft, orange upholstery beautifully complements the honey hued frames. Unmarked. Italy, 1970s.
Afra Bianchin & Tobia Scarpa were born in Italy in 1937 and 1935. They studied at the University Institute of Architecture in Venice and began their careers in 1958, specializing in the creation of Murano glass products. They soon enjoyed great success, collaborating with some of the biggest names in design, including B&B Italia and Cassina. Today, their designs are exhibited in major museums around the world and have been the subject of major international exhibitions.

CONDITION: Good overall vintage condition. Minor marks and scratching along the wood frames that aligns with age and use. The fabric is in great condition with no significant signs of wear.
