An iconic ‘Stringa’ three-seat sofa designed by Gae Aulenti for Poltronova in 1962. This beautifully proportioned, sculptural sofa is constructed of tubular chromed metal and features patinated black leather seat cushions. The padded back cushions are upholstered in felt and accented with leather covers. Thick leather straps effortlessly hold the cushions in place. Italy, 1962.
Gae Aulenti (1927-2012) was a prolific Italian architect, art director and product designer renowned for her post-war style and industrial designs. She was the art director of FontanaA rte and designed a range of modern, innovative pieces. Aulenti was one of few women in the field at the time and is regarded as one of the most iconic figures in Italian design and architecture.

CONDITION: Great overall vintage condition. Minor scratches throughout the chrome frame. The leather upholstery displays a natural patina and creasing that aligns with age and use.
